A one day Work Shop on “ Sub-Plan for Development of Scheduled Castes”, jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Economics, Hyderabad and Social Welfare Department was held on 13-2-2008, at MCR Human Resources Development Institute, Hyderabad.

Sri J. Harinarayana, Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the workshop and Sri S.R.Sankaran, IAS Rtd., Former Secretary, Rural Development, Government of India has spoken on “Special Component Plan - Looking Back and Ahead.” There were tow technical sessions held, the first on “Review of Special Component Plan from 1979-2006”, chaired by Sri S.R. Sankaran, IAS(Rtd)., and the other technical session on “ Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan in XI Plan”, chaired by Sri T . Gopalarao IAS(Rtd).,. The discussions of the two technical sessions have been summarized and it was resolved to recommend to the Government on several issues raised by the participants for better implementation of the Special Component Plan.
